Our Eye Clinic Liaison Officers work in partnership with Action for Blind People and Focus Birmingham who provide volunteers to assist in the clinic to give additional advice and support to patients who are interested in the service. Having the volunteers helps as patients can also be referred by them if the ECLOs are away from the clinic with a patient.
We constantly try to encourage and recruit new volunteers to support Birmingham Vision’s Social Groups. We offer Sight Loss awareness training and carry out DBS checks so our service users can be confident that our volunteers are trained and safe. Our objective for volunteers is that of building confidence and enthusiasm so that they want to be part of our services and to support our services. Volunteers are rewarded in many ways, with confidence building, socialising and enjoying the variety of activities we provide at our five social groups.
Within Sports, volunteers are crucial in enabling that any open days & taster sessions that are delivered, run smoothly and effectively. We have a number of sporting events taking place over the coming months, where having the support of volunteers is vital.
If any of these volunteering opportunities sound of interest to you, please get in touch.
